High Intensity

Thursday Gym 228Our High Intensity workouts incorporate functional fitness components that aim at improving overall strength and endurance.We combine components from sports such as Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics and athletics to deliver strength and conditioning sessions that will truly test your limits. 

The first half of each High Intensity session is devoted to improving your 'Strength and Skills'. 

The Olympic lifts - Snatch and Clean & Jerk and all of their derivatives - as well as Powerlifts - Back Squat, Bench Press & Deadlift - all feature in the strength phase of the session. 

Gymnastic movements such as single legged squats, box jumps, double unders, pull ups, toes to bar, handstand walks, push up and holds, ring movements such as push ups, dips and muscle ups are developed during the skills phase.

The emphasis in the second half of the class is on metabolic conditioning - a high intensity cardio workout performed at maximum capacity. 

These workouts can be performed by everyone from beginner level through to elite.  Beginners simply scale down the technical difficulty of movements, load and intensity level carried out in the High Intensity workout.  As your technical proficiency with the movements improve over time, so too will the degree of difficulty of each workout you perform, which ultimately leads to a greater level of fitness.
